Farm Sales Policies:

Goats are social animals and need other goats to live their best life! A single goat kid will not be sold unless you already have goats at home (single goat = sad goat). In general, it is easier for kids to transition into their new place with a buddy or two! If you are just starting out, I’ve found that three is the magic number!!! Doe/buck prices start at $500 and increase based upon dam/sire, accomplishments, and milk/show potential. Wethers are $200 each with discounts offered for multiple. Typically I do a pair for $400, trio for $500 ($166 each), and 4+ for $150 each. Companion wether(s) will also be sold with a doe/buck kid at a discounted rate.

You can get on our free waitlist anytime to be notified of any available kids. Paid reservations for specific breedings are opened up once does are confirmed bred via ultrasound. Only a certain number of paid reservations will be accepted per doe based upon how many kids they appear to be carrying. A paid reservation will take precedence when selecting kids over the free waitlist.

While we can get a general idea of the number of kids a doe is carrying via ultrasound, we cannot confirm genders prior to birth. In the event your reserved is unable to be fulfilled, the reservation can either be be held till the following year, moved towards another available kid, or fully refunded. If we are able to meet your reservation and you change you mind on taking the kid home, the reservation is not refundable.

We will not take reservations on buck kids out of First Freshners (FF). A buckling *may* be offered out of a FF after the dam is evaluated, however most buck kids born here are wethered and sold as pets unless the dam’s udder is exceptional. Wethers offer great family entertainment, pets, or 4H animals and may be reserved either out of a specific doe or in general (example: 3 wethers reserved).

Once kids are born and/or made available, phone calls/messages will be sent with photographs and details. You are more then welcome to come see the kids/dam/sire (contact me to make arrangements as I also have an off farm job). Paid doe/buck reservations have 48 hours to confirm intent to purchase and send 50% deposit to hold the kid. Waitlist reservations will then be contacted to confirm interest and have the opportunity to place the 50% deposit. If due to unforeseen circumstances a kid suddenly becomes unavailable, any deposit will be refunded in full unless a suitable replacement is agreed upon.

Kids may be dam raised, bottle raised, or a combo of both. Strictly bottle raised kids will be available around a month old to those interested. If you’ve never bottle raised goats before, it is not as intimidating as it sounds and makes for some great family memories! If bottle raised, we will make sure they are taking the bottle well before leaving and walk you through the process / be there for support. Dam and/or combo raised kids will be available once weaned (typically 8 weeks for bucks/wethers, but I like to keep does on their dams for 8-12 weeks). Due to the extensive amount of time spent out in the barn with the goats, all kids are super friendly regardless of feeding method.

All kids will be tattooed, receive BoSe if needed, & given coccidia prevention prior to leaving. Does/bucks will come with an ADGA registration application (wethers = unregistered). Online registration/transfers, microchips, and CVI’s are available at cost (let me know if you’ll need a CVI so arrangements can be made- I have a great working relationship with my vet but do need to schedule the trip there!). As a dairy goat, all kids will be disbudded unless arrangements are made ahead of time for a “horned” animal. To keep horns natural, payment in full is required 48 hours after birth.

All animals must be paid in full prior to leaving the farm. We are willing to work with transporters if you are unable to come in person, however you need to assist in locating a reliable transportation option.

Many of our animals have production and/or show records in their extended pedigrees which can help give an idea of future potential. We do not make any guarantees regarding specific traits of young stock, however we will do our best to evaluate and give an honest opinion of strengths/weaknesses.

Acorn’s Farm will have first choice at retaining kids from any breeding. As a growing performance herd, we reserve the right to adjust reservations if needed to ensure some of our kids are placed into herds that milk test and/or show. We aim to prove our goats in the milk pail, in the show ring, and through their offspring; incentives available to those who can assist us in this journey! We also want to support youth interested in competing in 4H; if this interests your kids let me know!

We aim to keep on the “smaller” herd size, which unfortunately means having to make difficult cuts of very much loved animals at times. Occasionally we will offer adult animals (or previously retained kids) for sale. This could possibly include doe(s) in milk or a doe/kid combo, let me know if this is something which interests you!

***Due to an increase in random telemarketing calls, feel free to follow up any call with a text (as 99% of time someone from an unknown number is trying to sell me an extended car warranty!)***
